About the Role
We’re hiring a Robot Operator to support hands-on robotics operations in San Francisco. In this role, you’ll operate physical and simulated robotic prototypes, collect data that helps improve autonomous behavior, and support testing activities across onsite and offsite environments. This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys working directly with emerging technology in a fast-moving, highly collaborative setting.
You’ll work closely with engineering, product, and research, and your observations will help shape product direction, system capabilities, and operational workflows. This role also includes some public-facing interaction, so you’ll be expected to represent our client professionally when engaging with customers, partners, or investors and communicate field feedback clearly through operational and technical channels.
Core Attributes
Operational Reliability: You follow procedures carefully, stay consistent over long shifts, and can be counted on in a hands-on testing environment.
Technical Curiosity: You enjoy learning how systems work and want to contribute to improving real-world robotics technology.
Clear Observation Skills: You can identify issues, describe what happened accurately, and share actionable feedback with technical teams.
Comfort With Immersive Tools: You are able to work for extended periods using VR systems and remote-control interfaces.
Adaptability: You stay effective when priorities shift, environments change, or new workflows are introduced.
Professional Presence: You represent the work well in front of external audiences and communicate with maturity and professionalism.
Hands-On Problem Solving: You are comfortable with setup, teardown, basic troubleshooting, and keeping equipment ready for use.
Responsibilities
Safely operate physical and simulated robotic prototypes using virtual reality headsets and controllers.
Collect data by demonstrating tasks and evaluating autonomous system behavior.
Execute data collection missions at onsite company locations and offsite deployed environments.
Provide clear, accurate, and actionable feedback to engineering and development teams.
Support product improvement and issue resolution through detailed operational observations.
Represent our client professionally when interacting with customers, partners, or investors.
Perform preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting on robotic systems.
Set up, tear down, and maintain robot testing equipment and environments.
Operate company vehicles to transport equipment between onsite and offsite locations.
Contribute to projects that improve tools, workflows, and operational processes.
Qualifications for Success
Minimum Requirements:
Ability to work for extended periods using a virtual reality headset with the spatial awareness needed to safely operate robotic systems.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 pounds.
Proficiency with Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
Comfort using office productivity tools.
Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to safely operate company vehicles.
Authorization to work in the United States.
U.S. citizenship required for this role due to business or legal requirements.
Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with video gaming, virtual reality systems, or remote-operated platforms such as drones, robotics, or related technologies.
Familiarity with command-line interfaces.
Familiarity with GitHub or version-controlled environments.
Verifiable experience through competitions, public portfolios, streaming platforms, or similar hands-on work.
Experience in STEM, aviation, operations, manufacturing, maker communities, entrepreneurship, or military environments.
