Job description
Are you someone who excels at hands-on work, has great dexterity, and enjoys physically interactive tasks? We’re seeking detail-oriented, reliable professionals to join a fast-growing robotics team as Robotics Lab Data Technicians. In this role, you’ll be performing physical tasks and collecting high-quality data to help train robotic systems—directly influencing how intelligent machines learn and operate.
While prior tech experience or gaming experience is helpful, we also value candidates from professions that require strong manual precision, such as hair stylists, tattoo artists, professional clothes folders, hospitality, or similar fields paired with a tech background.
You’ll work closely with engineers and researchers in a dynamic lab environment, performing tasks according to SOPs, annotating your results, and helping ensure the robots’ performance improves with each iteration.
Core Attributes & What You Bring:
Dexterity & Precision: You excel at physically detailed tasks, hand-eye coordination, and accuracy.
Hands-On Mindset: Enjoy working interactively with tools, equipment, and machinery.
Reliability: Consistent attendance, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
Tech Comfort: Ability to record, annotate, and report data accurately.
Adaptability: Flexible and able to quickly learn new tasks or tools (e.g., VR controllers).
Team Collaboration: Comfortable interacting daily with engineers, researchers, and shift leads.
Responsibilities & Daily Expectations
Your role is critical to advancing robotic intelligence and performance. Daily responsibilities include:
Perform physical tasks using teleoperation tools (folding clothes, stacking boxes, loading dishwashers, etc.) following SOPs.
Ensure collected data is accurate and properly annotated.
Monitor and document robot performance, task completion, and any irregularities.
Produce detailed reports to support research and workflow improvements.
Collaborate with engineers and researchers to optimize tasks and data quality.
Follow all safety and procedural guidelines.
Requirements & Qualifications for Success
This full-time, on-site contract role is based in Redwood City, CA; applicants must be able to work on-site.
Required Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
Reliable, punctual, and committed to long-term roles
Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods.
Comfort following detailed instructions and working independently.
Basic computer literacy for data entry and reporting.
Availability for one of the following shifts:
1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Monday–Friday)
2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM (Monday–Friday)
Optional weekend shifts available based on business needs (paid overtime)
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in robotics, lab operations, manufacturing, or similar hands-on roles.
Familiarity with teleoperation or mechanical systems.
Previous work in fast-paced, startup, or technical environments.
Exposure to AI, robotics research, or data collection workflows.
