About the Role
As an Autonomous Vehicle Operator, you’ll be responsible for driving and monitoring autonomous vehicle platforms on both public and private roads. Your main focus will be on safe operation, data collection, and feedback reporting to support engineering and software development teams. This role offers direct, hands-on experience with the latest AV technology and is ideal for detail-oriented professionals committed to safety and precision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate autonomous vehicles safely for up to 6–8 hours daily on a fixed schedule.

  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and contribute to routine maintenance reports.

  • Monitor AV software systems in real time and document any irregularities or performance issues.

  • Troubleshoot issues using proprietary tools and escalate to the appropriate teams.

  • Collect critical operational data using internal platforms.

  • Communicate vehicle performance and environmental feedback to engineers and operations leadership.

  • Provide support for training, logistics, and mentorship of new operators.

  • Follow all safety, regulatory, and procedural protocols without exception.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent experience (particularly in AV or ADAS operations).

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license held for 7+ years with a clean driving record (DMV check required).

  • Must pass drug screening, background check, and random drug testing.

  • Proficient with computers; able to navigate and troubleshoot proprietary software.

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Ability to work seated in a vehicle for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Comfortable driving in varied weather conditions, including rain and snow.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience in autonomous driving or advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).

  • Experience with Linux or technical systems.

  • Structured background (e.g., military service or previous fleet/logistics roles).

Working Conditions

  • In-person only, based in Mountain View, CA.

  • Two shifts available (day and swing); candidates must be flexible for either.

  • Physically active role that includes bending, lifting, and working outdoors as needed.

  • Expect to spend several hours inside the vehicle daily conducting critical operations.
