About the Role

Are you ready to help shape the legal framework for the future of autonomous technology? Our client, a pioneering autonomous mobility company, is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join their Austin legal team.

This role offers the chance to provide strategic legal guidance across contracts, compliance, and emerging areas in AI, robotics, and autonomous systems. You’ll partner with engineering, product, and business teams to manage complex legal issues, including product liability, data privacy, employment law, and global talent mobility.

Responsibilities & Daily Expectations

Contract Management & Negotiation:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements including NDAs, vendor/supply contracts (hardware, software, sensors), employment agreements, and IP licenses.

  • Design and improve contract workflows and tracking systems.

Emerging Legal Issues in Autonomy:

  • Provide proactive counsel on regulatory compliance, data privacy, cybersecurity, and product liability related to AI-driven and autonomous systems.

  • Conduct legal research and draft guidance documents for novel legal challenges.

Global Talent & Immigration Support:

  • Partner with HR and leadership on immigration compliance and international mobility programs to attract and retain world-class talent.

Employment Law Guidance:

  • Review and advise on employment agreements, severance, and workforce policies.

  • Mitigate legal risk while supporting organizational growth and compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school; active bar license in good standing.

  • 2–5 years of in-house corporate counsel experience, preferably in technology, software, hardware, or highly regulated industries.

  • Exposure to robotics, AI, autonomous systems, or automotive law is highly desirable.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to deliver clear, practical legal advice.

  • Passion for autonomous vehicles, robotics, AI, and emerging technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience advising on data privacy, cybersecurity, or global mobility programs.

  • Background in negotiating complex technology or intellectual property agreements.

  • Comfort working closely with engineering and product teams in fast-moving environments.
